Seiya Tomari
After graduating from the Osaka University of Arts, Visual Concept Planning Department in 2001, Tomari has worked odd jobs, running errands for politicians and getting involved in pyramid schemes. While working full time, he directed and produced the twenty-minute short, Hiiragicho Battle Field (2007), which was voted 5th place at the 10th Indie’s Movie Festival. Unhappiness for Sale (2009) is his second short film.

In a futuristic world where the ancient Japanese tradition carries on, a man with a prosthetic arm fights a mysterious woman with swords. Every time they cross swords, the man is reminded of the love of his life who died in an accident.

Hajime Ishida
While working as a graphic designer, Ishida joined Project Yamaken, founded by Kentaro Yamagishi, and learned filmmaking. With Yamagishi, he co-directed The Memory Stealers (2005), which has screened at Shanghai International Film Festival and others. Karakuri (2010) marks his solo directorial debut.

Edmund Yeo
Born 1984 in Singapore, Yeo started writing and directing short films in 2008. His short, Love Suicides (2009), premiered in the Paris Cinema and won the Best Director Award at the China Mobile Film Festival. His experimental short, Fleeting Images (2008), was the Grand Prix winner at Japan's CON-CAN Movie Festival. His first Japanese-language short, Kingyo (2009), was selected for competition at the Venice Film Festival.
