Toto is an outspoken vivacious eight-year-old boy with a cleft lip. He suffers from a speech impediment, but with his mother’s help, he decides to participate in his school’s Creative Speech Competition.

Tolentino studied Communication Arts at University Of Santo Tomas and film production at University of the Philipines Film Institute, Diliman. His short film Andong won awards at the 13th Busan International Film Festival in 2008 and Clermont Ferrand International Short Film in 2009. He was awarded the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Award in 2008, and received Special Citation from the National Council For Children’s Television and the Philippines’ Department of Education in 2010 for his contribution in creating child-friendly and child-focused film. Nono, which received Script Development Grant from Busan International Film Festival, is his second feature film.
