Ueda works in real estate selling pieces of land to foreigners in Rokujo-machi where he settled in with his family four years earlier. Having had to relocate so many times, Nana, his daughter, wants to stay in the town.

Sawada grew up in Aomori. His father is an environmental scholar. After graduating from college, he held various jobs working for a land shark, serving as a customer support at a trading company, and writing as a freelancer. In 2007, he was a recipient of Taro Okamoto Contemporary Art Award and began his career as a contemporary artist. In 2012, he completed his studies at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, at the age of 36. He won Isama Studio Film Festival Scenario Award in 2010 and 2015. In 2015, ACAC held his personal exhibition of visual works. He works in contemporary art and film.
