Chiharu is good at making sweet treats. Girls have high expectations for his handmade gifts for White Day, having heard of his reputation in junior high school. While handing out the many treats he has made, he is just about to give one to Yuka, the girl he wants to gift more than any of the others, but the chance is ruined by another girl. There are no more treats left. Although he briefly gives up, with encouragement from his friend he starts making sweets just for her. Will he be able to give a treat to her before the end of the day? Showers of blossoms on the streets, beautiful light shining through the school’s corridors and classrooms: with this carefully-crafted backdrop, the film portrays the once-in-a-lifetime adolescent days of a boy and a girl. While working on his graduation film at Ritsumeikan University, director Takanobu Koga concurrently spent two years completing his first animated film, almost by himself. The screening at this festival will be its world premiere.

Message

I spent the last two years of my university life making this film, in parallel with my graduation project. I wanted to depict, in a straight manner, the importance of relating to others and the wonder of being oneself in a trusting relationship. During the pandemic, I worked on producing my first animation, in which I focused on light and composition. Although there are many things that I could not do well, I gave it my all and I hope that you will enjoy it.
