On a hunting trip, an overbearing husband in the driver's seat takes out his frustrations on his wife. The wife is somewhat aloof and ignores him, which only adds fuel to the husband’s anger. The husband is bound by patriarchal values, and the wife has endured him for many years. The rifle, a symbol of toxic masculinity, is a key character in the film, and when the wife has it, their equilibrium changes and a new communication begins. The man’s stubborn values begin to be shaken by his wife's words. Minami Ikemoto skillfully presents a clear answer to the question of contemporary masculinity, in the form of a minimal and somewhat humorous dialogue drama. The director achieved high acclaim for his graduation project at the Osaka University of Arts. The two actors are brilliant: Haruki Takano portrays a hateful but somehow absurd and vulnerable man; Saki Tanaka shows a never-give-up spirit for dealing with differing values. Hunting Results will have its world premiere at the festival.

Message

Old-fashioned people who are unable to update their values are ostracized in today’s society, but I don’t want our society to simply exclude such people. That is why I made this film. A story using effective repetition is key for economical but well-made low-budget film production, so I adopted a structure that reverses the relationship in the second half. It’s efficient if an element can have another perspective.
