In a foster home, Haruki has been taking care of his only friend Nao, a young deaf girl, as if she was his own sister. When his classmates ask him to join a band, he becomes deeply involved and Nao begins to feel left behind.

Born in Tokyo, Hirano directed various shorts including Heroes Are Always Asleep (2009), which won the Special Jury Award at the Isama Studio Film Festival, Rabbit and Alisa (2010), Lightening (2010), which screened at Sendai Short Film Festival, and Thirst (2011). The script of SHINDO -The beat knocks her world- won the Grand Prize at the Isama Studio Film Festival and the film was subsequently produced. This is her first feature film.
