The 10th Anniversary Special Programs
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL and we have put together three special programs to celebrate. “Focus on Rotterdam” offers a look at one of the most innovative international film festivals held annually in Rotterdam. “New Films by Past Nominees” features new films by the festival graduates and “Your Best 3 Shorts” features three short films voted online by the audience. Enjoy these exciting films that can only be seen at the festival!

Many emerging filmmakers whose works had previously competed at the festival have moved on to become auteurs in high demand at international festivals. We proudly present new films by the festival graduates who have grown to be recognized as filmmakers of indisputable talent.

Nominee of 2004 Feature Length Competition with Pictorial Letters
Uchida’s feature length documentary Pictorial Letters won the Special Jury Prize at the 25th Pia Film Festival in 2003 and received special mention at the 28th Hong Kong International Film Festival. His first feature film Kazaana screened at the 27th Vancouver International Film Festival. Love Addiction won the Grand Prize at the TOKYO FILMeX 2010 and was selected for the Tiger Awards Competition at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. He completed Love Bombs and Kieru in 2013.

Grand Prize winner of 2005 Feature Length Competition with Me and You and Everyone We Know
Miranda July works in a wide range of disciplines of art including film, contemporary art, novel, and others. She burst into the international film circuit with her first feature film Me and You and Everyone We Know which won the Special Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival and four awards including the Caméra d'Or at Cannes Film Festival. “No One Belongs Here More Than You,” a collection of her short stories won the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award.

Short Length Competition with Coffee & Milk
Kumasaka’s short film Coffee and Milk won the Special Jury Prize at Pia Film Festival in 2005. His feature film debut Park and Love Hotel won the Best First Feature Award at Berlin Film Festival. In 2009, he was commissioned by Shizuoka Cultural Foundation to direct Jikan no jikan as a part of the Time Exhibition by 105 Artists.
